O que é que te agrada no teu trabalho?

Poder transformar as pessoas e dar-lhes sobretudo auto-confiança.

Why should a client choose you?
Because I enjoy bringing to the surface who they are, I like to make them happy with my work, but also helping to exteriorize the “ideal” image we all have of ourselves. Each person has inside them the way they imagine themselves to be, their true self, and if i can help to make that inner self and their actual look to become one and the same then I´m really happy. Besides, I´m a great company!

What do you like in your work:
To be able to transform people and to give them self-confidence, most of all. I like to be able to help people to create their image and to be able to help them being happier about themselves, wich is a process very connected to self-confidence. I enjoy being part of that confidence-building process, like for instance someone that just went through a rough moment and wants to feel reborn, or someone that just wants to feel hot hot hot!

Why did you come to Lisbon?
Because I´ve been away for ages (8 years in London) discovering the world and myself, collecting experiences and becoming who I am now and there’s a time in our life when we have to stop and create (or recreate) roots… and I wanted to do that in lisbon, because I’ve missed home and the sun!

What are your favorit restaurants/bars/places?
In Portugal, Sintra and Óbidos above all, although I also love portuguese beaches. I love to dine at Bota Alta or going to Pavilhão Chinês, Procópio or Indie Bar. I like the goth scene, therefore when I club I go somewhere within that scene. However, my heart definitely goes to medieval fests across the country in the summer. Outside Portugal, my favorite cities would be London and Venice. In the evening you just have to go to Sarastro restaurant in Covent Garden and then club in Camden Town or Torture Garden to dance (or not) all night long! In Venice, Piazza San Marco at two in the morning  to sing in empty streets across sleeping venice! I also love Lago Di Como, cause its like if they had connected about 400 Sintras…

What kind of haircut or style would you like to try out one day?
Dificcult question… because i’ve already tried almost everything!

What is the style that inspires you most?
Burlesque, but also the goth scene.

What do you want for your future?
I want sunsets in a multicolor sky looking at the ocean, walking in the forest under a full moon. I want to always love what I do, I want to try to live every day as if it was my last, I want to love and be loved, i want to see the whole world… I want to always be happy, true to myself and others and to always be passionate about life! In summary, I want each moment to be magic.

Néria’s Big Year

September 25th, 2009

This has been an exciting year for Néria.
It seems that we were not the only ones who noticed her development. Besides becoming a stylist (she started working for us as a young stylist last year), she and Patricia Ameixial as her make-up artist (our assistant from Motor-Hairport) were admitted to participate in Wella’s Trend Vision 09. Congratulations and good luck girls!

tooltime in the bica village

During the august heat around noon at the bica village two girls were seen carrying frightening weapons … mothers hide their kids at home and even the dogs stop barking.

everybody knows that “néria the kid” and “calamity inês” are not in the village to entertain.

they are here to cut your hair baby !!!

eva on elevador da bica

My name is Eva and I love my work for the following reason: hair was given to us so that we can experiment with it. There’s nothing in our body so easy to change as our hair. A haircut can express our individual beauty and can reveal our personality. I also like to go under the “blade” and I like the beach too. I love the heat of the sun, the openness of the sea and the power of the waves and like people with these attributes, no matter where you’re from or what language you speak. And speaking of languages, I’m working on my Portuguese, claro!

When I’m not walking, and I spend a lot of time walking because there’s a lot to see and I don’t need a tv, I’m swimming. Swimming is my moment of reflexion and can be as good as spending one hour reading. To dance with good music loosens me and brings good mood. I music taste begins with techno and ends with salsa. And speaking of salsa, I also like to cook, particularly dishes from countries that I intend to visit. It’s wonderful to eat a culture with good company.

======================================

Today Inês was up for an interview:

How long are you working in the salon?
I’ve been here for 3 and a half years already, time’s been flying….

How comes that you are still here - isn’t it boring?
Not really :) We always have different clients and different work to do, and after all this time it’s like working with friends and family. The salon has a very good energy, and I usually don’t get fed up with good energies. It’s hard to leave!

What would you really like to try out one day?
Hmmm…. This is a hard one…. Luckily for me, I always have clients that let me do whatever I want, so I don’t think there’s anything I would like to do but can’t. In my own case, shave my head but then I wouldn’t have any hair to play with… And I love playing with hair…..

where would you like to work (at least for a while)
In an immediate future, i would like to work in Berlin, then maybe London to visit some friends, and in a few years Tokyo and Kyoto. And in Portugal, maybe spend a while in Porto. You should never put your own country a side…

What group of people is most inspiring for you?
Definitely Punk in all its variations and Japanese Anime. And my coworkers obviously, you always learn a lot and get inspired by watching others working.

You are quite concerned about the environment which is not very typical for a “alfacinha” - do you talk to the people in your neighborhood and in your family about that?
Maybe not in my neighborhood, but to my family, friends, coworkers, to everyone that comes into my home or to wich homes I go too…Everyone I caught doing something wrong… I’m a wee bit of a dictator with it :)

Would you like to become the Prime Minister of Portugal one day?
No… Not really… I don’t really like politicians.  I think i would end up slapping all of those around me… Hehehe…

Guia da Noite organized a party on friday the 27th right in the heart of Lisbon: at Elevador da Bica where our shop is. Our shop was open until midnight. The girls decided to dress up a little.

Two boys from Italy booked a haircut for the next day and enjoyed the atmosphere. Silvia, Inês, Néria, Patricia and Tish worked really hard and looked fabulous. Nice clients, good music, excellent mood: a great evening at Wip- Hairport.

However, the real party only started around midnight whith people streaming to Bica. All our neighbours like Bicaense, Baliza, Bica-me and the other bars were absolutely crowded. We have no pictures from the party but we are sure that they will pop up somewhere on the Internet soon and we will try to post a link.

Sabine back at work

after spending a few months at home with the baby boy, Sabine is finally back to work. she was thrilled to meet her clients and colleagues again and is full of energy and creativity.
she needed a bit of a warmup on the first day, but on her second day she proved her mastership with the razor and now she’s just unstoppable. the assistants are constantly removing big piles of hair and if she continues like this we will start producing carpets soon
:) in the meantime, emil is enjoying some time with his dad during the shifts and is an energetic and happy little guy!
