Cédric, o nosso novo Stylist!

September 28th, 2010

Olá! Eu chamo-me Cédric, tenho 22 anos e nasci em Bruxelas.

O que é que te agrada no teu trabalho?

Poder transformar as pessoas e dar-lhes sobretudo auto-confiança.

Why should a client choose you?
Because I enjoy bringing to the surface who they are, I like to make them happy with my work, but also helping to exteriorize the “ideal” image we all have of ourselves. Each person has inside them the way they imagine themselves to be, their true self, and if i can help to make that inner self and their actual look to become one and the same then I´m really happy. Besides, I´m a great company!

What do you like in your work:
To be able to transform people and to give them self-confidence, most of all. I like to be able to help people to create their image and to be able to help them being happier about themselves, wich is a process very connected to self-confidence. I enjoy being part of that confidence-building process, like for instance someone that just went through a rough moment and wants to feel reborn, or someone that just wants to feel hot hot hot!

Why did you come to Lisbon?
Because I´ve been away for ages (8 years in London) discovering the world and myself, collecting experiences and becoming who I am now and there’s a time in our life when we have to stop and create (or recreate) roots… and I wanted to do that in lisbon, because I’ve missed home and the sun!

What are your favorit restaurants/bars/places?
In Portugal, Sintra and Óbidos above all, although I also love portuguese beaches. I love to dine at Bota Alta or going to Pavilhão Chinês, Procópio or Indie Bar. I like the goth scene, therefore when I club I go somewhere within that scene. However, my heart definitely goes to medieval fests across the country in the summer. Outside Portugal, my favorite cities would be London and Venice. In the evening you just have to go to Sarastro restaurant in Covent Garden and then club in Camden Town or Torture Garden to dance (or not) all night long! In Venice, Piazza San Marco at two in the morning  to sing in empty streets across sleeping venice! I also love Lago Di Como, cause its like if they had connected about 400 Sintras…

What kind of haircut or style would you like to try out one day?
Dificcult question… because i’ve already tried almost everything!

What is the style that inspires you most?
Burlesque, but also the goth scene.

What do you want for your future?
I want sunsets in a multicolor sky looking at the ocean, walking in the forest under a full moon. I want to always love what I do, I want to try to live every day as if it was my last, I want to love and be loved, i want to see the whole world… I want to always be happy, true to myself and others and to always be passionate about life! In summary, I want each moment to be magic.

silvia pereira stylist from toledo

today silvia our girl from toledo answered some questions :

How long are you working in the salon by now?
I’ve been living in Lisbon and working at Hairport for almost 7 years.

How comes that you are still here – isn’t it boring?

Well, on one side it is very tempting to move to some place else and start all over, but on the other side it’s also interesting to have a routine and to know how to deal with that. As long as I continue to have the liberty and support to explore other interests it will be a pleasure working here.

What would you really like to try out one day (but your client’s or you are too afraid)?

Something that I have never dared to do on a customer nor on me, but I just love it: a bob cut with everything clipped until above the ears. Does somebody dare to do this?

where would you like to work (at least for a while)

In Mexico City or in New York.

What do you think about fashion magazine cover page girls?

I think that this type of magazine is for the H&M or Zara generation that tends to democratize fashion because everybody has access to it and all the girls from Beja to Tokyo seem to dress, walk and have the same attitude.
These magazines are stereotyping teenagers more and more.

Why do you like Alex de la Iglesia movies?
I just love this Spanish director because he is dynamic, brutal, fun and he knows how to choose the soundtracks. He’s the Spanish Tarantino and recommend the film “Perdita Durango” starring Javier Barden and Rosie Perez.

What kind of music do you like these days?
Definitely Colombian Cumbia

How long are you working in hairport?
I started working here one year ago. I had already worked here for 3 years but I’ve stopped for two years to finish my hairdressers degree and gain some experience in other salons. after that I came back like in the popular portuguese saying “o bom filho a casa retorna” (a good child always returns).

How come you are still here – isn’t it boring?
I think it’s like an enchantment: when you’re enchanted you just can’t leave. I think the general mood here is cheerful and you can find a relaxed atmosphere and highest professionalism at the same time. What’s kept me here for such a long time is that one simply can’t get bored here. We have unique clients who have the need and the guts to come to us to change their looks and this is really hard to find somewhere else. I really like our unusual, relaxed, funny and usually very open minded customers were you meet strong individuals who are interesting, relaxed, amusing, sincere and generally very open minded.

What would you really like to try out one day?
well… so many ideas are popping into my head right now that i find it hard to decide which one to choose. What I would really like to do is a design inspired on a painting of miró :)

Where would you like to work, at least for a while?
I would like to work in Berlin. I think it’s a great city, and I’m already learning german. I really need to go, to live the experience of living in a foreign country… but I’ll always want to come back. Like I said before its like an enchantment…

What group of people is most inspiring for you?
I do not have a favorite style. I love my customers, they are all special. I do not really identify myself with a special style, but I sympathize with rockabilly and gothic. However, I also like the desperate housewives and the effect that some layers or strong fringes can have on them… what I really love is to give my customers some power and self-confidence so that they like themselves more than ever and leave the salon happy and satisfied. Seeing my customers happy makes me happy.

You are somehow a “country girl” from Alentejo. Can you imagine yourself going back to a village in Alentejo someday?
An interesting question… I guess it would be difficult to go back. I just love to spend holidays and rest in Alentejo. It is very complicated to live there you can’t find work. I guess i will stay close to alentejo, probably move to the Algarve one day where you have not only a high standard of living but also a fantastic seacoast, beach and sun.

Would you like to become the Prime Minister of Portugal one day? What would be your first political agenda that you would like to realise?
This question is really difficult. Well, if I’d become Prime Minister, I’d like to raise the ridiculous pensions of the lower classes. I think that everyone has the right to have a quality life at least in the last years of ones live. I’d also forbid mortgage for real estates and lower the rents for apartments to mobilize the portuguese people and to avoid that they stick to one place and one house.
