 eva on elevador da bica My name is Eva and I love my work for the following reason: hair was given to us so that we can experiment with it. There’s nothing in our body so easy to change as our hair. A haircut can express our individual beauty and can reveal our personality. I also like to go under the “blade” and I like the beach too. I love the heat of the sun, the openness of the sea and the power of the waves and like people with these attributes, no matter where you’re from or what language you speak. And speaking of languages, I’m working on my Portuguese, claro! When I’m not walking, and I spend a lot of time walking because there’s a lot to see and I don’t need a tv, I’m swimming. Swimming is my moment of reflexion and can be as good as spending one hour reading. To dance with good music loosens me and brings good mood. I music taste begins with techno and ends with salsa. And speaking of salsa, I also like to cook, particularly dishes from countries that I intend to visit. It’s wonderful to eat a culture with good company. ====================================== Chamo-me Eva e adoro o meu trabalho por um motivo muito lógico: na nossa criação foram nos concedidos cabelos para podermos fazer experiências com eles. Não existe nada no nosso corpo tão fácil de modificar como o nosso cabelo. Um corte de cabelo pode ser uma forma de expressão da nossa beleza individual, chegando por vezes a reflectir a nossa personalidade. Eu própria gosto de me “submeter à navalha” e gosto também de ir à praia. Adoro o calor do sol, a vastidão do mar e a força das ondas, atributos estes que também procuro nos seres humanos, independentemente da sua origem ou língua. E por falar em línguas, estou neste momento a “treinar” o meu português, claro! Quando não estou a passear, o que me ocupa bastante visto que há muito para ver e faz com que eu não precise de televisão, estou a nadar ou a passear. A natação é o meu momento de reflexão, é bom para pensar e tão bom quanto uma hora de leitura. Dançar ao ritmo de boa música liberta-me e é traz boa disposição garantida. Os meus gostos musicais passam pelo tecno e culminam na salsa. E por falar em salsa, gosto muito de cozinhar, preferencialmente pratos provenientes de países que tenciono visitar. Degustar um pouco de cultura na companhia de amigos é simplesmente… fantástico! |

Hair tuning!

 first photos from the salon An old truck motor wash room gives birth to Motor-Hairport, a hair salon for young people. The opening party will take place this saturday, May 30th at 21:00. Cheap haircuts with great expertise and all of this in a creative and stylish atmosphere. Rua de S.Paulo will gain a new life starting this month. MOTOR is located between Cais do Sodré and Santos, right in the middle of Lisbon’s new design district, where you can find various design stores, art galleries and design schools and, in the near future, the Design and Fashion Museum. This is the perfect place for our new hairsalon due to it design, based in upcycling. We have used old furniture that is of no use for its former owners to decorate for our decoration. The architect Carsten Leonhardi and the artist Jo Hoffman are responsible for this original idea. It all started with the following principle: to use the waste of a consuming society and to respect the environment. “We want to feel at home here and it is even possible that some pieces used in our decoration were once in our homes, so we can identify with them.” says Jezz, the salon manager. The purpose is to create an environment that makes you feel well, where you want to stay. And you should feel like this because you can’t make any appointments. The idea is to come in when you have a sudden desire to cut your hair. You will never get bored at MOTOR though, because you have a large selection of design and art magazines, good music and cool ideas flowing. Next stop: |

two artists from vienna were invited to realize a project with us and stayed 1o days in lisbon.  carsten and jo before the haircut since both of them did a great job, we could not let them return to austria without some proper haircut (you will hear more about their work soon). sabine and jezz gave them a lesson in contemporary lisbon hairdressing and they enjoyed it.  jezz and sabine in action after 60 relaxed minutes with good music, they both liked their new hairstyle. one can tell the difference..  jo with his new look  carsten upcyled |

You are quite concerned about the environment which is not very typical for a “alfacinha” - do you talk to the people in your neighborhood and in your family about that?  inês enjoying one of the rare quiet moments at work |
We always have different clients and different work to do, and after all this time it’s like working with friends and family. The salon has a very good energy, and I usually don’t get fed up with good energies. It’s hard to leave!two haircuts in one

 jezz's client happy after the haircut jezz and her magic scissors did another innovative masterpiece: her regular customer who works in a quite conservative or at least classic environment, wanted a new, excentric cut. she wants to grow her hair but she also wants something fresh and outgoing. what a challenge for jezz.  undercut with design by jezz since there was a lot of volume to cut off, jezz suggested to cut out a few waves and leave the hair on top long and even, like a curtain. the concept worked out nicely and her client now has two haircuts in one  two haircuts in one

Guia da Noite Party at Elevador da Bica

 videoprojection on elevador da bica with our client Guia da Noite organized a party on friday the 27th right in the heart of Lisbon: at Elevador da Bica where our shop is. Our shop was open until midnight. The girls decided to dress up a little.  néria ivy and tish getting dressed up Our clients liked this idea aswell and many curious people visited us or watched us working through the windows.  guys from italy booked a cut for the next day Two boys from Italy booked a haircut for the next day and enjoyed the atmosphere. Silvia, Inês, Néria, Patricia and Tish worked really hard and looked fabulous. Nice clients, good music, excellent mood: a great evening at Wip- Hairport.  ines and silvia at the late night shift  silvia in action However, the real party only started around midnight whith people streaming to Bica. All our neighbours like Bicaense, Baliza, Bica-me and the other bars were absolutely crowded.
